The decision has major implications for a fishing industry worth an estimated $200 million dollars annually.
Host Rob Sachs discusses the issue with Alejandro Sanchez, Senior Research Fellow at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs

Sanchez tells Sachs, "It's economically significant, especially if we have to take into account that the fishing industry in those countries is artisanal, in nature, we're not talking about big fishing companies but just families, individual families or persons that take a boat, go into the sea and fish, and this is their livelihood. So this going to have a major impact for the fishing industry for the region. But it's also a matter of national pride."

Under the ruling Peruvians will get more of the ocean, though a lot of the rich fishing grounds will remain in Chilean territory.
