 As the U.S. prepares to leave Afghanistan, is it Kazakhstan’s time to shine?

The greater Central Asia region is preparing for the departure of U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September. While Washington’s “forever war” is coming to an end, regional governments are concerned about a potential spillover of the violence that is (once again) brewing in Afghanistan. One of those nations, Kazakhstan, has several initiatives, including promoting the education of Afghan women and defense cooperation with Afghan forces, to help Afghanistan with the rough times ahead.

 The Ecuadorian coast guard vessel Isla Santa Cruz escorted the Peruvian training vessel BAP Unión while the latter sailed through Ecuadorian waters as part of a training mission in mid-May. While cordial encounters at sea between ships belonging to friendly navies are quite common, a curious fact about this meeting is that both vessels were manufactured domestically by local state-run shipyards.

User feedback and technological advances have enabled enhancements to target acquisition technology but there is the potential for even more to be done.

User feedback and technological advances have already prompted one manufacturer to improve its target acquisition system.
